Our Work

At Wild Roots Children's Center, our philosophy is centered around the idea that every child grows unique roots and flourishes in their own distinct way. We celebrate each child’s individuality and potential, nurturing their growth with a rich, supportive environment that encourages exploration and self-discovery. By fostering a connection to nature and providing diverse learning experiences, we help children develop strong, vibrant roots that support their blossoming into confident, capable learners.

Our Philosophy

Reggio Approach

Our preschool program integrates the Reggio Emilia approach into our curriculum, prioritizing a child-centered and inquiry-based learning environment. We believe in the importance of nurturing each child’s natural curiosity and creativity, encouraging them to explore, question, and engage deeply with their surroundings. Our classrooms are designed to be rich in materials and opportunities for self-expression, fostering collaborative projects and discussions. By valuing the child as an active participant in their own learning and emphasizing the role of the environment as a “third teacher,” we create a dynamic space where children develop critical thinking skills and a love for learning.

Montessori Approach

Wild Roots embraces the Montessori approach, emphasizing independence, practical life skills, and respect in every aspect of learning. We encourage children to take ownership of their activities and choices, fostering a sense of autonomy and confidence. Through carefully designed practical life exercises, children develop essential skills such as self-care, organization, and problem-solving. Respect for themselves, others, and their environment is at the core of our philosophy, guiding interactions and nurturing a supportive community where each child learns and grows with dignity and purpose.

DEI Practices

In our Wild Roots community, we embrace an anti-racist and community-focused approach to foster an inclusive and respectful environment. We actively teach and model principles of equity and empathy, ensuring that every child learns to value diversity and engage thoughtfully with others. Through intentional curriculum design, diverse representation, and open dialogue, we empower children to appreciate differences, challenge stereotypes, and build a foundation of empathy and understanding. By integrating these values into daily activities and interactions, we lay the groundwork for a more just and connected future.
